Revolutionising healthcare utilising Nurse Practitioners
Home Nurse Services (HNS) is Australia’s largest private employer of Nurse Practitioners (NPs). Employing only NPs, HNS’ purpose is to provide enhanced collaborative clinical care to customers who can’t otherwise access appropriate health services.
The Nurse Practitioner difference
How is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) different from a Registered Nurse?
Highly experienced and skilled
NPs are highly experienced and skilled registered nurses who can diagnose and treat patients, prescribe medication, order blood tests and X-Rays, and refer patients to specialists.
Over 5,000 hours of experience
NPs must have both a Bachelor of Nursing and a Masters of Nursing, and completed over 5,000 hours of specialty experience. NPs are registered health practitioners with AHPRA and endorsed by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board.
Various specialities
NPs have various specialities including primary care, aged care, oncology, palliative care, rural and remote care, wound management, cardiology and mental health.
Eligible for a Medicare rebate
NP consultations are eligible for a Medicare rebate (MBS) and NPs can prescribe medication under the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme (PBS). NPs are held in high regard by those in the health industry and work closely with GPs, specialists and allied health professionals.
